Donald A. Nichols, Ph.D.  (Yale, 1968), has had a distinguished academic career at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  He has chaired its economics department, is current director of both the Center of World Affairs and the Global Economy and the Center for Research on the Wisconsin Economy.  Dr. Nichols was chair of the Executive Committee of the University Faculty Senate from 1989-90.  He has served as deputy assistant secretary of the U.S. Department of Labor, was economic advisor to the Governor of Wisconsin, and worked with the President's Council on Economic Advisors and the U.S. Senate Budget Committee.  He has testified in many business disputes, including widely cited fair dealership cases, patent litigation, and antitrust matters.  His cases included Kealey Pharmacy v. Walgreens, Generac v. Caterpillar, K-S Pharmacies v. Abbott Labs, Burlington Northern v. Wisconsin Western, and Olympia Hotels v. Johnson Wax.
