Jess D. Reaser, Ph.D. (Michigan State University, 1998) is a Senior Economist. He has forecasted electricity prices, measured customer response to price changes, reviewed utility investment behavior, and examined market power issues in the electricity industry. Dr. Reaser also has estimated labor demand functions, analyzed labor productivity, conducted surveys and pricing analyses, and examined the impact of technological innovation on mail volumes for the U.S. Postal Service. He has assisted in the development of software that uses conjoint analysis to forecast the market shares and profitability of new electricity products, and designed products that incorporate uncertainty and customer and utility preferences for bearing risk. He has participated in policy-oriented research on topics such as labor market adjustments, workplace training, minority hiring, and Affirmative Action policies, and racial discrimination in performance rating systems and compensation practices. In addition, Dr. Reaser has estimated the determinants of chief executive compensation in manufacturing firms and researched the effect of pay inequality on productivity. His research has been published in Research in Labor Economics and The Journal of Urban Economics.
