Senior Staff
Travis Grau, M.S. (Purdue University, 1995) is a Senior Economist. His areas of expertise include cost analysis, computer programming for queries of large databases, survey data collection, and knowledge of U.S. Postal Service data sets. Since joining Christensen Associates in 1996, Mr. Grau has provided technical support and analysis to Postal Service witnesses in the R97-1, R2000-1, R2001-1, R2005-1, and R2006-1 omnibus rate cases. He has assisted in the development of methods used to assign the Postal Service’s labor costs to appropriate postal operations, which requires the manipulation of work-sampling data consisting of approximately one million records per year. Mr. Grau has helped develop statistical analyses of these costs using a bootstrap methodology that mimics the stratification and sampling methods employed by the Postal Service to collect data. Mr. Grau has assisted in the development and implementation of several surveys designed to measure specific characteristics of various types of mail. Mr. Grau has also assisted in the analysis of Postal Service bulk mail volume data. In addition to his work on Postal Service projects, Mr. Grau has been involved in the collection and manipulation of data from electric power plants associated with the California Municipal Utility Association (CMUA) and the California Independent System Operator (CAISO). He also has extensive experience with the collection and analysis of data for various antitrust litigation cases.
