Corbett Grainger is a Professor in the Department of Agricultural & Applied Economics at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he has been on the faculty since 2010. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Corbett specializes in energy, environmental, and natural resource policy, with a focus on how regulations and market design affect different groups. His research spans energy pricing and affordability, the distributional impacts of regulation, and the political economy of policy design. His work draws on modern econometric methods, administrative data, and geospatial and remote-sensing estimates. He is also a Fellow at CESifo (Munich) and a Co-Editor of Land Economics. He presents his work internationally and speaks to audiences that include policymakers, development banks, NGOs, researchers, and industry stakeholders.

Corbett has worked with a variety of clients and stakeholders to evaluate policy and investment decisions using transparent, data-driven economic analysis. His consulting experience includes valuing damages; analyzing rate and tariff design; conducting energy-burden and equity assessments; and performing program evaluation. He has litigation consulting experience, including testifying in deposition and trial.
